Wonderful Grandma – 89-Year-Old Woman Knits 450 Blankets for Shelter Dogs

“Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made.” – Roger A. Caras

It’s wonderful when you can help someone, doing what you love the most. As we all know it is very difficult for dogs to live in a Shelter. Every dog deserves love and cozy home. But when it is not the case here it is Mesi Green.

Mesi Green is a humble, old woman who loves to knit. She is simply amazing because she  uses this hobby to help dogs in the Shelter who are waiting for their new home. The 89-year-old collected and donated more than 450 blankets  and jumpers last year  for a lot of fur animals at the “Dog Trust” Center in Basildon, Essex.

Three times a year, she carries her creations in the center so she can help homeless when the when it’s very cold and the temperatures are low.

She said: “I love knitting and I love dogs, so this combines both wonderfully. It takes me three days to knit a blanket and one day to knit a doggy coat. It keeps me busy and often I like to knit whilst watching television. “I’m delighted to be helping the four-legged residents at the centre in some way.”

Lisa Cooper, the Rehoming Center Manager at Dogs Trust Basildon, said: “Maisie regularly brings along her knitted donations and we are so grateful for her support. With the chill of the winter months really starting to creep up on us I know our dogs are very pleased to put the items to good use – and love feeling extra cosy!” Lisa Cooper wrote on Dogs Trust’s website.

Lisa Cooper added: “If you’d like to donate to the rehoming centre they are open 12pm – 7.30pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10am – 4pm over the weekend and closed on Wednesdays”.
